Abstract

This article presents the discussion about the city as a field of discovery and experimentation, in which the school becomes a partner in the transformation of the uses and appropriations of its territories. Authors such as Milton Santos, Lourdes Atié, and John Dewey made it possible to anchor issues of school, city relationships, citizen participation, and the role of education as a way to change those relationships. The experience of the United Educational Centers (CEUs) leaves traces of how the school can be integrated into the territory. The city as the greatest human creation is a reflection of this way of being in the world and establishing relationships, so that it becomes a field of exchange and learning, or an educational city.
